Kim Young Kyun (*1977, Seoul/Korea)

It was my first step as an artist to combine lots of pictures with Photoshop. After 2 years I started to make sculptures instead of taking photos. When I came to Germany to study in Kassel everything was changed. Because of the language problem I had to be silent even though it was not so hard to speak in English, and this situation was pushing me to the different way. Suddenly I decided to try video works which can describe my “mute period”. Anyway life is going on, and my artistic spectrum is getting wider than I expected through two semesters.

It would not be difficult to find surrealistic person in my artwork. Yes … you are right. I am very interested in the symbolism, surrealism and animation. I just spent whole energy explaining origin of my phobia before making deformed people, and I still believe that is one of the important process of my work. If you want to know what this artist is, then just come on in my frame and walk around for few minutes.
